Trisha Brown Dance Company

The Trisha Brown Dance Company's new 16,000 sq. ft. facility, which houses 4 studios and the Company's offices opened in fall 2001. Designed by renowned architects Tod Williams and Billie Tsien, the studios were constructed to provide the highest quality working space for performing artists. The space is multifunctional, and ideal for photo and video shoots, seminars, classes, and galas, in addition to rehearsals.

The Company is addressing the lack of affordable rehearsal space confronting Manhattan's arts community by initiating its rental program, - FoundSPACE Project - which offers reduced rates to area performers. The program is structured in three tiers:

1) Discounted rates available to not-for-profit groups or individuals seeking rehearsal space
2) Discounted rates available to instructors who wish to use the studios to teach their own classes
3) Market rates available to commercial renters

THE STUDIOS
Located at 625 W. 55th Street, 2nd floor (between 11th and 12th Avenues) view map
Available for rental Monday-Friday 9am-9pm and Saturday-Sunday 10am-6pm (extended hours are available upon request)

Studio 1 - 35' X 51' 6": Non-profit rehearsal: $35/hr; Class & Instruction: $40/hr
Studio 2 - 27' X 51' 6": Non-profit rehearsal: $30/hr; Class & Instruction: $35/hr
Studio 3 - 44' X 34': Non-profit rehearsal: $20/hr; Class & Instruction: $25/hr
Studio 4 - 48' 6" X 35': Non-profit rehearsal: $25/hr; Class & Instruction: $30/hr
- Commercial rates begin at $50/hr and are based on type of use.

- Moveable wall between studios 1 and 2, offering the flexibility to have a space of 3,200 square feet, suitable for showings or events

- A lobby/reception area
- Seating area for rehearsal breaks
- Air conditioning

The Trisha Brown Dance Company is pleased to offer subsidized rehearsal space made possible by a grant from NYSCA. Space will be available at a rate of $10/hour during evening and weekend hours to not-for-profit companies and artists with annual budgets of less than $1.5m.
